The Challenge
New York City has represented the American Dream to generations of newcomers to the United States. It's early economic and industrial successes fueled by the labour and dreams of diverse people coming to America for a better life, ready to create a better future. Through economic depressions, wars, terrorist attacks and social upheavals New Yorkers have shown their resilience and determination to confront new challenges and opportunities. The key elements of a more resilient future include: Equity, Food, Energy, Ecology, Economy, and Climate.
We will need adaptive local solutions. How can the Lower East Side (LES) become more resilient to spiraling energy and food prices, freak weather and deepening economic turmoil? What would a thriving, fair and comfortable LES look like twenty years from now, in 2030?
Action
Lets work together to share ideas, create awareness and mobilize action to build resilience for a thriving, fair and comfortable LES!
